Tasty coleslaw

Summer is here and one of my favourite things to eat when the weather gets warm (and especially at a barbeque) is this simple yet bloomin’ marvelous coleslaw which my hubby (Steve) often makes.

It takes just a few minutes to make, keeps for a couple of days in the fridge (if you don’t eat it all, that is) and is better than any coleslaw you could get from the shops.

It’s just one of the recipes featured in my seasonal Five Day Reboot – so if you fancy trying a few more recipes to get you eating a bit more healthy again (and want some support from me and a lovely gang of people!) then click here to sign up and really kick start your eating this year!

Do you practice what you preach?

I was asked this recently by a friend*

*a nice person, but someone who clearly doesn’t know me that well because that kind of question would never come from someone who has seen me choffing ice-cream on the beach.

We were talking about food (as I often seem to end up doing) and they very seriously asked:

“Do you practice what you preach?”

Which struck me as an odd question and it hit me hard. In the gut. Like the thwack of a kipper.

So I answered, with a very serious face:

“No, of course not”.

Do you eat ‘bad’ foods fast?

I’ve been really noticing how I eat.

(I really am so rock and roll!)

And I don’t just mean the way I move the fork from the plate to my mouth.

I mean in terms of the way I eat differently depending on what I am eating. And I’ve noticed something really funny.

Even though I don’t eat much in the way of ‘rubbish’ food, I have realised that when I am eating something which isn’t a super-amazing healthy food, I tend to eat it quite fast. I don’t mean proper shovelling speed by any means, but my usual average pace of eating definitely speeds up a notch or two when I am eating something a tad cheeky.

If you want to blame the fact that I am scared someone will catch me eating an icecream, you couldn’t be more wrong on that one. I love it when I get caught with vanilla icecream melted around my chops because it gives me another chance to rant about the differences between icecream and nicecream.
