No time to sleep?

So many of my clients say the same thing:

I’m so tired.

I’m knackered.

I don’t have enough energy.

Yet when I ask them how much sleep they are getting, the answer is often:

Not enough.

See, they already know that they aren’t getting enough sleep, but at the same time, they don’t prioritise getting the sleep that they need. They say they have no time to sleep.

Cold or not, you need some fresh air

It’s that time of year again, when getting fresh air seems really tricky.

The house is warm, full of the lovely smells of Christmas chocolate (or is that just mine…?) and the thought of going out in the cold, or in the rain, is just too darned harsh.

It’s tempting to stay indoors for pretty much the whole of the festive season, nibbling on mince pies and supping the odd glass or three of mulled wine. And to be honest, there’s nothing wrong with nibbling and supping. Nothing wrong at all.

Just five minutes

We are all busy.

I know that.

Life isn’t exactly going to get any slower any time soon.

Work. Family. Friends. Eating. House. Holidays. Social media. etc.

All these things mean that there really aren’t any minutes spare. At all. Anywhere.

No time to chill (unless you call ‘chilling’ checking your phone again) which doesn’t quite count in terms of proper relaxation.

So when I’m talking with clients, and it becomes really obvious that they are super busy, I explain how important it is to take time out from life.

What to do when it all goes pear shaped.

There are times in life when things don’t go right.

In fact, there are times in life when everything seems to be going wrong.

As a nutritionist, my default reaction should be to say that even when life is going crazy, you should remember that eating well is one of the things you can do to support your body, emotions, mental health and energy levels to get you through all kinds of hardship and troubles.

But the simple fact is that sometimes eating well feels pretty much impossible. Even for nutritionists.
